Purple and White Fight Night

Summary:

The Purple and White Fight Night was started by Ashley Katzman and Danyelle Shapiro, who each lost a loved one to cancer. The event is hosted in memory of Danyelle’s father, who lost his life to lung cancer at age 41, and Ashley’s mother, who lost her battle to pancreatic cancer at age 54.

The Fifth Annual Purple and White Fight Night will take place on Saturday, September 14 from 8pm-11pm at 1OAK in New York City. The event will feature a entertainment, photobooth, sushi bar, silent auction, and more with a portion of the evening’s proceeds benefitting the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.

The fourth annual event, hosted in 2018, welcomed more than 250 guests and raised over $70,000.

Fourteenth Annual Strides for Life

On Sunday, August 11, 2019, the Lung Cancer Research Foundation will host its Fourteenth Annual Strides for Life at the Southampton Cultural Center in Southampton, NY. Strides for Life is a three-mile run/walk and features a 50-yard dash for children. Participants include lung cancer survivors and patients, professional runners, first-time runners, teams, families, children and many other lung cancer research supporters. McMagical Productions' Oliver Benefit

McMagical Productions will present the musical Oliver, with proceeds to be donated to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. Evening performances will be Thursday, February 21; Friday, February 22; and Saturday, February 23 at 8pm. A matinee will be offered on Saturday, February 23 at 2pm. Tickets are $20 at lcrf.org/oliver. McMagical Productions was created in memory of Barbara McKinsey, a young dance teacher who lost her battle with lung cancer in June 2013.

11th Annual Tom Zangas Memorial Lung Cancer Foundation Race

Summary:

A proclamation from the town of Port Washington, NY was presented to Leonard and Penelope Zangas honoring their efforts through the Tom Zangas Memorial Lung Cancer Foundation to fight lung cancer. The foundation was started after their son, Tom, a tri-athlete, died after a valiant fight at the age of 40. The proclamation was presented at the foundation’s annual 5K run/1K walk, which raised more than $75,000.

Since inception, this event has raised nearly $25,000 for the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.

In support of a colleague who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, employees of the Hampton Inn and Suites Amelia Island will participate in The Superfly Run in Jacksonville, FL on December 9. The event, which is part of a national event series, encourages participants to run/walk a 5K or 10K course for charity. More than 50 employees are expected to participate in support of their colleague.

Film Screening in Memory of George Romero

Actor, filmmaker, and native New Yorker George Romero will be remembered at this fundraiser in Yonkers, NY. Guests will enjoy a screening of his films as they raise awareness for lung cancer. Mr. Romero passed away on July 16, 2017 after a battle with the disease.
