Grant Applicants

We encourage applications for projects investigating a wide variety of lung cancer research topics and from institutions of all sizes—both nationally and internationally.

About Our Grants

LCRF grants are awarded for lung cancer projects focused on one or more of the following:

  • Basic science
  • Translational research
  • Clinical research
  • Supportive care
  • Quality of care/outcomes

LCRF provides funds to U.S. and International investigators:

  • Graduate students
  • Post-doctoral researchers
  • Physicians
  • Medical students
  • Nurse researchers

Grant Coverage Criteria:

  • Primary support for projects can include additional secondary funding, such as core services support.
  • All applicable costs, including institutional indirect/overhead costs, must be included as part of the requested budget total.
  • Personnel budget lines must not account for more than 15% of the total request.
  • Direct patient care costs that could be reimbursed by other sources will not be covered.

Application Timeline and Details:

  • 2014 grantees will be notified of their award in October 2014.

Application Criteria:

  • The project summary cannot exceed 15 pages total (including CV). For more details, click here.
  • Submit CV/resume or bio sketch only.
  • Please include at least one letter of support. The letter should be from the applicant’s program director/advisor and affirm the following statements:
    1. The applicant will be on academic staff during the period of grant coverage.
    2. There is adequate institutional space and equipment to accomplish the stated project.
    3. The program director/advisor will confirm his/her commitment to and provision of institutional space and equipment for the grantee. This can include projects with a time frame extending beyond the one-year grant period, but all requests for additional LCRF-funding beyond the 12-month grant period require resubmission, as new applications will also be considered along with resubmission requests.
  • Reapplications must include a complete progress report of the current grant reward.
  • Maximum award is $50,000 for one year from the time of notification.

Due to the high volume of grant submissions, LCRF cannot provide feedback on applications that do not receive a grant award.
