Director, Educational Programs

The Director, Educational Programs will oversee all aspects of the Lung Cancer Research Foundation’s programmatic offerings. The position will work closely with the lung cancer community to develop educational programs that address the community’s needs, focus on research advancements and LCRF’s role in furthering research, and empower support of LCRF’s mission. This role reports to the VP, Community Engagement + Outreach.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Strategic Development

  • Lead the strategy, development, oversight and evaluation of LCRF’s educational programs and initiatives geared toward supporting patients and caregivers, including LCRF’s educational portfolio, support line, workshops/webinars, online communities and other lung cancer educational, support resources that address the community’s needs and support LCRF’s mission
  • Develop and execute program plans that support LCRF’s strategic goals and plans

Program + Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, manage and develop volunteer committee(s) (including Patient Education Review Committee) that support programmatic initiatives
  • Track, measure, and analyze data regularly to ensure programmatic goals are achieved
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the development and maintenance (in-house and outsourced) of LCRF’s educational programs and materials; partner with Communications and Marketing to develop mass marketing, distribution, and communication plans (print and digital)
  • Maintain an up to date, working knowledge of key lung cancer-related topics including the current treatment landscape, research trends, drug development and clinical trials news
  • Create and manage funding proposals to support development efforts and represent LCRF’s educational and outreach activities at meetings with external stakeholders
  • Prepare, manage, and oversee programs budget to ensure appropriate expenditure tied to secured funding
  • Supervise support line intern

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with colleagues across functional areas to engage patients/caregivers/health care providers with LCRF’s mission and related activities including workshops, seminars, and events, and identify individuals with giving and fundraising potential
  • Partner with Marketing & Communications and Scientific Programs teams to develop strategies for engaging current and prospective constituents in LCRF’s programming and developing compelling communication that speak to treatment advances that tie to LCRF’s work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of experience in program development, including nonprofit experience
  • A dynamic, driven and sophisticated professional excited by the opportunity to help grow and shape the future of the Lung Cancer Research Foundation
  • Proven success in executing on goals as well as experience leading and partnering with volunteers to achieve desired outcomes
  • Must be a self-starter who takes initiative and balance big picture strategy and execution against plans
  • Values a collaborative environment, enjoys working with a team, and appreciates making connections
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding, articulate and persuasive communication skills, with well-honed relationship building skills and excellent public speaking and presentation abilities
  • Ability to travel for meetings and events (up to 10%)
