Summary:

In support of a colleague who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, employees of the Hampton Inn and Suites Amelia Island will participate in The Superfly Run in Jacksonville, FL on December 9. The event, which is part of a national event series, encourages participants to run/walk a 5K or 10K course for charity. More than 50 employees are expected to participate in support of their colleague.

On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF™) hosted its Fifteenth Annual Strolling Supper. More than 500 lung cancer supporters gathered at Gotham Hall in New York City for an evening of cocktails, light fare and entertainment, raising more than $1.2 million for lung cancer research.

On Wednesday, November 1, 2017, the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (LCRF) hosted its Twelfth Annual Lung Cancer Awareness Luncheon, raising nearly $600,000. Approximately 250 guests gathered at The Pierre in New York City to celebrate the innovative research projects the organization will fund in 2017. This year LCRF awarded $1.6 million grants which will go towards projects aimed at improving lung cancer patient outcomes.

Twelfth Annual Strides for Life

On Sunday, August 13, 2017 LCRF hosted its Twelfth Annual Strides for Life. The event, which included a three-mile run/walk and 50-yard dash for children around Lake Agawam in Southampton, NY, welcomed more than 500 participants and raised nearly $375,000. Participants included professional runners, first-time runners, teams, families, children and many other lung cancer research supporters.

Film Screening in Memory of George Romero

Summary:

Actor, filmmaker, and native New Yorker George Romero will be remembered at this fundraiser in Yonkers, NY. Guests will enjoy a screening of his films as they raise awareness for lung cancer. Mr. Romero passed away on July 16, 2017 after a battle with the disease.

Tenth Annual Elliot’s Legacy

On Sunday, July 9, 2017 LCRF hosted its Tenth Annual Elliot’s Legacy: Kites for a Cure in Deal, NJ. This year’s event had a wonderful turnout, with more than 700 guests in attendance. Guests had a blast with the amusement rides, carnival games, and kite flying, and enjoyed delicious food, an exclusive auction and more.

The Middletown High School Class of 1997 will celebrate its 20 year reunion in 2017. To celebrate, classmates will gather at the Big Cork Winery in Rohrersville, Maryland.  All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit LCRF in memory of Kristine Brophy Beaulieu, a classmate who passed away from lung cancer in 2016 at the age of 36.

LCRF's Young Professionals Committee hosted its second annual event on Thursday, June 22 at 1 Oak nightclub in New York City. The event welcomed New York City's young professionals under the age of 35 for an evening of cocktails, light food, entertainment and a silent auction. All proceeds from the event benefited LCRF and its mission to improve and save lives by funding groundbreaking research for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of lung cancer. Click here to view the event photos.

Third Annual Purple and White Fight Night

The Purple and White Fight Night was started by Ashley Janover and Danyelle Shapiro, who each lost a loved one to cancer. The event is hosted in memory of Ashley’s mother, who lost her battle to pancreatic cancer at age 54, and Danyelle’s father, who lost his life to lung cancer at age 41.

The Third Annual Purple and White Fight Night will take place on Saturday, October 22 in New York City. The event will feature a Chinese and silent auction, and a portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.
