Through our scientific grant program, the Lung Cancer Research Foundation provides funding for innovative research focused on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of lung cancer.

The Foundation is proud to provide funding to U.S. and international researchers of all experience levels, including graduate students and nurse researchers. Our goal is to enable all investigators with promising ideas to contribute to advances in the field.

The Research that LCRF Funds

The majority of the Foundation’s grants support impactful, translational research that has the potential to extend survival and improve quality of life for people with lung cancer. LCRF-funded research includes:

  • Prevention and screening for early detection
  • Identification of new biomarkers and the development of targeted therapies
  • The development of next-generation chemotherapeutic agents
  • Supportive measures for people with lung cancer and their families
  • Quality of care and outcomes research

Through its grant program, the Foundation aims to provide critical seed funding to researchers with groundbreaking ideas, helping them establish proof of concept and paving the way for additional grant funding from universities, government institutions and additional sources.

To be considered for grant funding, please review the eligibility criteria and submit the LCRF Grant Application on the Funding Opportunities page.

Grant Review Process

To ensure that LCRF awards funding to the most promising research projects, the Foundation conducts a multi-part review process that leverages the knowledge and insight of our Scientific Advisory Board. A diverse group of renowned multi-disciplinary scientists and physicians, our Scientific Advisory Board is committed to providing an objective review process in which grantees are selected strictly based on application scores.
